This Privacy Policy describes how Click Clack Labs LLC ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use BrainPickle at brainpickle.app ("the Service"). We collect the minimum data needed to run the Service, and we never sell your personal information.
When you sign in with Google, Apple, or email (via one-time verification code), we receive and store your email address and display name to create and manage your account. If you use Google or Apple OAuth, we may also receive your name and profile photo.
We store your quiz results, scores, streaks, challenge history, group room participation, and free play sessions to provide features like leaderboards, stats, streak tracking, and XP/leveling.
If you create quizzes (via the AI generator or manual builder), we store the quiz title, description, questions, and answers you provide. Your topic requests are sent to third-party AI services (Google Gemini with Google Search grounding, with Anthropic Claude as a fallback) for question generation and fact verification.
We collect analytics data such as page views, quiz completions, feature usage, and browser/device type to improve the Service. We use Google Analytics, PostHog, and Amplitude for this purpose. This data is collected only after you consent (see Cookies below).
We use Sentry for error monitoring. When an error occurs, Sentry may capture technical details such as stack traces, browser information, and your user ID (if you are signed in) to help us diagnose and fix issues.
When you arrive via a shared link, we may store the referral source (e.g. "whatsapp", "twitter", "sms") in your browser's local storage to understand which sharing channels drive engagement. This data is anonymous.
When you create an account, you are auto-enrolled in the following email categories: daily quiz notifications, streak reminders, challenge notifications, weekly digest, and product updates. You can manage each category individually from your account settings or unsubscribe via one-click links included in every email. You may also unsubscribe from all emails at once.
When you create or accept a challenge, we store your display name, score, and completion time. This data is visible to your opponent. When you join a group room, your display name, score, and time are visible to all participants.
We collect IP addresses for rate limiting, abuse prevention, and question report moderation. IP addresses are not linked to your account or displayed publicly.
We use browser localStorage to store quiz progress, streak data, cookie consent preference, install prompt state, referral source, and analytics identifiers locally on your device.

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We use non-essential cookies and tracking for analytics (Google Analytics, PostHog, Amplitude) and advertising (Google AdSense).
When you first visit BrainPickle from a country that requires explicit consent (EU, EEA, UK, Canada, Brazil, South Korea, Japan, Switzerland), we display a cookie consent banner. Non-essential analytics and advertising scripts are only loaded after you accept. If you are in the United States or other countries without explicit consent requirements, non-essential cookies are enabled by default.
You can change your cookie preference at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for brainpickle.app or using your browser's cookie settings. Disabling essential cookies may affect the functionality of the Service.
We retain your account data and quiz history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days. User-created quizzes and question reports are anonymized (author removed) rather than deleted, to preserve the integrity of the quiz library. Anonymous, aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely. Group room data expires automatically after 24 hours.
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication, access controls, and server-side input validation. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for monetary or other valuable consideration. This applies to all users, regardless of location. If you are a California resident, you have the right under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) to opt out of the sale of your personal information. Since we do not sell personal information, no opt-out action is required — but if you have questions, contact us at the email below.
The Service is hosted in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the Service or email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
