Geography gets strange at the edges. Borders run through libraries and across a lighthouse rock, a river island changes country twice a year, a few communities can only be reached by driving through the neighbour, and clocks on one island sit 45 minutes away from everyone else. Most of it comes from old treaties, old maps and the odd publicity stunt. These 50 questions cover exclaves and enclaves, time-zone oddities, antipodes, record-breaking place names, poles of inaccessibility, misplaced monuments and the quirks of the US and Canadian border. Each one carries a clue inside the question and a short explanation of why the oddity exists.
